ESWAMP EBOARD SWEEK OF WELCOME

Thank you all for such an incredible eSwamp!

We had over 100 attendees and 50
volunteers help us for this great event, and
we could not have done it without all of you!
A special shout out goes to our 3 eSwamp
Directors for making this happen: Amanda
Wei, Lindsay Mullenix, and Shital Kasabwala.

Opening: Dean Abernathy

Dean Abernathy gave an inspiring speech for
the opening of eSwamp 16. The Dean
touched on engineering and its various paths
of academia and industry, as well as the
importance of getting involved throughout
campus and extracurricular. Embarking on
her 8th year as the Dean of the Herbert
Wertheim College of Engineering, Dean
Abernathy continues to lead us down new
and innovative paths.

PEPSICO Sponsorship
Priya Parikh, a UF alumni and engineer at
Tropicana/PEPSICO, stopped by to give a
talk on what it means to be a woman
engineer in industry. She gave advice both
on earning internships and co-ops with
companies, as well as how to make the most
of your time as a college student at the
University of Florida. An avid kayaker and an

ex-marching band member, Priya is

definitely a great role model for aspiring
engineers.

Academic Panel, Design

Challenge, and more!
eSwamp was packed full with events! From
our introduction to First Year Engineering to
our Major Mentoring session, each attendee
got a glimpse into what it means to be a
Gator Engineer. Our Academic Panel (UF
SWE sponsor, Dr. Weaver, Dr. Jimenez, and
Dr. Simmons) gave insight into academia and
research; Our Design Challenge gave a sneak
peek into our design teams upcoming
competition; and our Koozie Konstruction
allowed our attendees to take a quick break
and get to know one another.
Overall, eSwamp 16 was a great success. We
look forward to this year and the
achievements of our organization.
