September 2016 Chapter 1: Classifying Plants and Animals Dear Families, Your child will learn how scientists sort living things. In the Science textbook chapter 1: Classifying Plants and Animals, our class will learn about the building blocks of that make up all living things and how living things are named and grouped into six kingdoms. Students will learn how to look for similarities and differences between living things; this will help them compare, contrast, and classify all kinds of organisms. In addition to learning how to classify different kinds of living things, students will learn many new vocabulary words. Help your child to make these words a part of his or her own vocabulary by using them when you talk together about plants and animals.
