Special Learners:

Special learners can be challenged by nuanced and abstract topics, so in this lesson I included a
mix of critical thinking activities as well as ones that test for basic comprehension
High Achieving:
The critical thinking assignment that asks students to consider the legality of adultery should
challenge high achieving students.
At-risk:
The topic of adultery and relationships should strike a chord with at-risk students, who are
typically bored with the typical lesson plan.
English Language Learners
Like at-risk students, the archaic tone of the novel may bore them until they see the real-world
applications it can have to their lives, through adultery and cheating. English language learners
may struggle with concepts of symbolism, but everyone is familiar with cheaters.
Diverse Language / Learning Backgrounds
Ive included technology and different learning methods (visual, audio, etc.) in this lesson to
accommodate those that learn in different ways.
