BAGS 6205: Architectural Design Thesis II

Semester 2, 2015/2016.
Minimum requirement for Final Presentation / LAM Part 2 accreditation / RIBA accreditation
Objective
Demonstrate coherent and
well resolved architectural
designs.
Ensure that the design
response is appropriate to
site and context, and for
reasons such as sustainability
and budget.
Regulatory requirements,
including the needs of the
disabled, health and safety
legislation and building
regulations and development
control, that guide building
construction.
Appropriate philosophical
approach which reveals an
understanding of theory in a
cultural context.

Elevations

Detail
o Provide a brief write up describing the
issues, objectives of the project and
solutions.
o Site information.
o Show precedent studies.
o Provide the schedule of accommodations
and built-up provision for each area.
o Show total built up area
o Show design intent and process of how
the design evolved.
o Provide key plan. Where your site in in
relation to the PJ Masterplan & greater PJ
area
o Provide site plan at an appropriate scale
o Show neighboring/adjacent sites and
roads.
o Indicate north point.
o Show all floors (including roof plan) in a
scale that is clearly legible and
appropriate for the size of the project.
Use the same scale for all plans.
(Suggested scale 1:100, 1:200. Actual
scale will depend on the size of your
individual project)
o Building layout/planning must comply
with UBBL and requirements for health
and safety regulations.
o Show location of all service areas/plant
rooms/waste disposal center/TNB substations/firefighting water tanks/AHU
room/fire escape exits and routes/Bomba
lift, etc. Services must comply with bylaw/authority requirements.
o Label all rooms/spaces.
o Indicate where sections are cut.
o Min 2 cross-sections in an appropriate
scale.
o Cut sections to show critical
spaces/volumes
o Do not draw sections that stagger
through the site in order to show the
different terrain/conditions.
o Show all elevations in an appropriate
scale.
o Provide proper graphic representation of
materials and finishes.
o Use proper line weight and graphics.

Models

o Display model of the final design scheme.

o Display site, previous study and design
development models.

Perspectives

o Min of 3 perspectives 1 external, 1

internal perspectives and 1 overall aerial
view of the project.
o Interior perspective must show a space
that is significant to the scheme/design
solution.
o Use good graphic techniques to ensure
clear understanding of your project.
o Min 2 sections. (Suggested scale 1:30
and 1:50)
o Show complete section of the building
from roof/upper most level until

construction detail, use of materials and
specification.
o Consider providing a sectional
perspective
o Min 2 drawings of details which are of
significance to the project.
o Scale 1:5 and 1:20
o Min 1 axonometric structural skeletal

DO NOT USE SKETCH UP TO DRAW DRAWINGS. Use Sketch Up only to render after the drawings are
drawn first in AutoCAD.
