TheantennashouldbeofgoodqualitywithregardstogainandVSWRtoobtainmaximum
performance.MakesurethattheVSWRontheantennaislow,andthatthecablefromthe
transmittertotheantennaisofgoodqualitytoavoidmismatchandunnecessarylosses.
Acablelossof1dBisthesameasreducingthepoweroutputofa10Wtransmittertolessthan8.5W.
Similarly,acablelossof2dBisthesameasreducingtheoutputpowertolessthan7W.

Inareaswerethunderstormsandlightningisaproblem,surgearrestorsshouldbemountedbetween
theantennaconnectorandtheantennacable.Thearrestorsshouldbeofgoodqualityandbe
capableofhandlingtheoutputpowerofthetransmitter.

TheantennainputofthetransceiveristheBNCtypeantennaconnectoronthebackofthe
transceiverunit.

5.1 Introduction
TosetuptheTR810transceiverunit,variousparameterscanbeselectedfromthefront
panel.Thissectiondetailshowthisisdoneandtherangeofallparameters.
Sincethetransceiverunitcontainsnomanualtuningpointsorswitches,allparameterscan
inprincipalbesetfromthefrontpanel,howeverexceptinsomerareoccasions,most
parametersshouldbeleftattheirdefault(factorypreset)values.
Thereare2userlevelsthatcanbeselectedtolimittheuseraccesstocertainparameters.
Aservicelevelfortechnicalpeoplecanbeenteredbyinsertingadongleintothefront
connector.

Theseuserlevelsare:

Restricted Limitsfrontpaneloperationtoselectpresetchannelsandadjust

audiooutputlevels,turnthesquelchon/offandchangethedisplay

appearance.Usethislevelwhentheradioisusedincaseswherethe

usershouldberestrictedtousepresetchannelsonly(063).

Operation Sameasrestricted,butinadditionthelocaluserhasfullaccessto

changeandstorechannelnames,thesquelchoperatingleveland

frequencies.
