TheantennashouldbeofgoodqualitywithregardstogainandVSWRtoobtainmaximum
performance.MakesurethattheVSWRontheantennaislow,andthatthecablefromthe
transmittertotheantennaisofgoodqualitytoavoidmismatchandunnecessarylosses.
Acablelossof1dBisthesameasreducingthepoweroutputofa10Wtransmittertolessthan8.5W.
Similarly,acablelossof2dBisthesameasreducingtheoutputpowertolessthan7W.
Inareaswerethunderstormsandlightningisaproblem,surgearrestorsshouldbemountedbetween
theantennaconnectorandtheantennacable.Thearrestorsshouldbeofgoodqualityandbe
capableofhandlingtheoutputpowerofthetransmitter.
TheantennainputofthetransceiveristheBNCtypeantennaconnectoronthebackofthe

pairsusedonastandardethernetconnectionareusedwhenasignalisinput/outputasa
pairtotheradio(e.g.audiolines).
Forinterconnectionsbetweenthefrontmoduleandtransceiverunit,standardCat5E,
ethernetcableshouldbeused.Thisisagoodquality,screenedcable,with1to1
connectionsbetweenthetwoconnectors.

5.1 Introduction
TosetuptheTR810transceiverunit,variousparameterscanbeselectedfromthefront
panel.Thissectiondetailshowthisisdoneandtherangeofallparameters.
Sincethetransceiverunitcontainsnomanualtuningpointsorswitches,allparameterscan
inprincipalbesetfromthefrontpanel,howeverexceptinsomerareoccasions,most
parametersshouldbeleftattheirdefault(factorypreset)values.
Thereare2userlevelsthatcanbeselectedtolimittheuseraccesstocertainparameters.
Aservicelevelfortechnicalpeoplecanbeenteredbyinsertingadongleintothefront
connector.
Theseuserlevelsare:
Restricted Limitsfrontpaneloperationtoselectpresetchannelsandadjust
audiooutputlevels,turnthesquelchon/offandchangethedisplay
appearance.Usethislevelwhentheradioisusedincaseswherethe
usershouldberestrictedtousepresetchannelsonly(063).
Operation Sameasrestricted,butinadditionthelocaluserhasfullaccessto
changeandstorechannelnames,thesquelchoperatingleveland
frequencies.
Technician
Thislevelgivesthelocaluseraccesstothemostusedinstallation
specificparameters(linelevels,outputpower,etc.)andshouldbe
