Classroom Expectations:
Treatment of others: The Golden Rule has been around for a long time--keep using it.
Tardiness: Be on time and in class every day. This is the #1 thing you can do to help yourself.
Dress Code/Electronics Usage: You must be appropriately dressed. Prior to entering the
classroom all electronics including headphones must be put away.
Food/Drink: There is no eating or drinking (water bottles are acceptable/must remain on floor)
at any time in class. If I see it, it will be thrown away.
Late assignments: Will be reduced by 10% for each day that it is late.. It is your responsibility
to turn in late assignments; I will not request it.
Illness/Excused Absences: You must obtain your absent work from the absent folders with
the designated day at the front of the classroom. For every day that you have excused
absence you have a day to complete your work.
Classroom Norms
Entrance
o As soon as you come in, pick up handouts as you enter in the classroom followed by
picking up your binder from the designated bin. After the bell rings, you will have 4
minutes to complete your Do Now. Get to work immediately!
Binder
o You will be expected to maintain a binder in the course; binder checks will occur
throughout the course
o If I ask to see something, you should know where it is. I expect you to have your
materials EVERYDAY IN CLASS. We will discuss your binder and how to organize it
Classroom Environment
o Put your trash on right hand corner of your desk. As you are exiting the classroom when
class is dismissed you will then throw away your trash.
o Academic language only. No cursing/swearing, or name calling
o You cannot go to the restroom during the first 10 or the last 10 minutes of class, so do
not ask. You only have three restroom passes per semester! Use wisely!
Dismissal
o When the class is over, the teacher will dismiss you. Prior to leaving the classroom all
materials and supplies must be placed in the designated areas and the classroom should
be left clean.

Lined loose leaf paper
Graph Paper
Pencils
Blue/Red/Black Pen for corrections
Calculator
Any other materials that will ensure that you are successful in class

Frequent unexcused absences and tardies will impact your overall grade.
Attendance Policy: Per CPS attendance policy, Students who have unexcused absences in 20% [18
days] of the classes in a particular course during the period for which a unit of credit is earned shall not
pass the course and shall receive no credit towards promotion. Therefore, 18 days of such absence
will result in failure of the course.
Tardy Policy: For every 5 days you are tardy to class you will receive a detention.
