regularly spaced from each other for transmission from a meteorological
computer to another computer in the form of suitable key for use in aircraft
systems.

is used solely in connection with cases where the obligation specifically

comprising sending information to a user.
Elevation.
Vertical distance between a point or surface level of the ground or attached to
it and the mean sea level.

Radiosonde station.
Place of weather station instrument called a radiosondeo is launched to record
and transmit meteorological data of the atmosphere over the country.

Ft.
abbreviation of the English measurement unit of feet long.
Photometeor.
Luminous phenomenon caused by reflection, refraction, diffraction and
interference of the solar or lunar light. The main ones are the halo, rainbow,
ring, rings ulloa, mirage green flash and twilight colors.
Frontolysis.
Is referred to the process of dissipation or weakening of a front or front system.

Pressure gradient.
Mathematically is a vector perpendicular to the isobar or isobaric surface and
directed towards low pressure values. Pressure difference between two points.
Hail.
Precipitation of cells or pieces of ice having a diameter larger than 5 mm. This
phenomenon is observed during several convective storms in which the
development of cumulonimbus is fast.
Balloon pilot.
It is so called a balloon that is used to calculate aloft winds, the procedure is to
be filled with helium or hydrogen balloon and leave free then the trajectory of

the balloon is followed by a theodolite periodically registering its position

(azimuth and elevation).

Hectopascals.
Unit atmospheric pressure of 100 pascals or 1 millibar (mb).

Homosphere.
It is the region of the atmosphere in which the ratio of the components of air,
except for the ozone, water vapor and charred anhydride remain constant
reaching a height of
Absolute humidity.
In a system of damp air and is the ratio of the mass of water vapor to the total
volume of the system usually expressed in grams per cubic meter.

Isobar.
It is a line drawn on a weather map with which points come together online.
(representing a weather station), where the atmospheric pressure has the
same value.

Weather report.
Declaration of observed meteorological conditions related to a specific time
and place.
SIGMET information.
Information issued by a meteorological watch office concerning the occurrence
or expected occurrence of specified route weather phenomenon which may
affect the safety of aircraft operations.
.
Isohyet.

Glosario Meteorolgico.

31/08/16

It is a line drawn on a weather map with which points come together online and
where equal amount of rainfall occurs.

Nautical Mile.
(NM, for its acronym in English). Measure of length, equals: 6076,103 1852
meters and feet.
Mesoscale.
A mesoscale phenomenon is one that lasts from 1 to 12 hours or a horizontal
extension between 1 and 100 km or a height between 1 and 10 Km. Examples
of these phenomena are convective storms, tornados, sea breeze, etc.
Map of altitude.
Weather maps on a surface or upper layers of the atmosphere are determined.
Map provided.
Prediction of meteorological elements specified for an hour or specified period
and for a certain area or portion of airspace, depicted graphically on a map.

Flight level.
Surface of constant atmospheric pressure related with a specific pressure
datum, 1013.2 hectopascals (hPa) separated from other such surfaces by
specific intervals pressure.
Cruising level.
A surface of constant atmospheric pressure related to a specific reference
pressure 1 013.2 hectopascals (hPa) separated from other such surfaces by
specific pressure intervals.
Haze.
Suspension in the air of microscopic water droplets or wet hygroscopic nuclei
that reduces surface visibility.
Level.
The vertical position of an aircraft in flight meaning variously height, altitude or
flight level.
