Why is the RCSD considering a bond issue?

The last time the Rankin County School District passed a bond issue was over 15 years ago.
The children that were kindergarteners that year are now in college or well into their careers.
Rankin County is one of the fastest growing areas in Mississippi and the metro area. Updated
and new facilities are key to home values as well as bringing in businesses and keeping the
ones we have.
When will the bond issue take place?
On June 22, 2016 the Rankin County Board of Education voted to tentatively set the bond
issue vote for March 7, 2017.
How much will the bond issue be, and what will it include?
We do not have a set amount in mind nor do we know what the bond issue will include. We
have scheduled a series of Great to BEST Listening Tours across the district to LISTEN to the
people and hear what the needs are for their zone.
Who is invited to the Great to BEST Listening Tours?
Everyone with a stake in the RCSD is invited to attend and give their feedback.
