Materials:

Old childrens books, paint, magazines, glue, paint brushes, glitter, wall paper
etc.

Goal:

To use the process of altering an old book as an outworking of internal

processes of making new patterns of thinking and being.

Method/
Process:

Choose an old childrens book. If needs be, somehow acknowledge the old
book and its past and its rebirth into something new. Tear off, paint over or
collage over as much of the old book as desired until there is a sense of
completion.
NOTE: this activity may take more than one session.

Outcome:

This intervention turned into a trigger for me. I had been feeling a bit
overwhelmed with some life circumstances and peeling back the plastic skin
of my chosen altered book turned out to be quite symbolic. I can see that the
process is highly symbolic and could be used in many different circustancesaddressing grief, trauma, eating disorders, depression.
