On Thursday, September 8, 2016, at approx. 4:30 AM, Jackson Police Officers responded to the
200 block of Holland Ave. regarding a burglary. Upon officers arrival, it was learned that a
suspect forcibly gained entry into the residence by kicking in the rear door. The suspect made
contact with the resident, a 67 year old female whom as alone. He allegedly assaulted her and
tore her clothing from her body. The suspect allegedly attempted to sexual assault the resident as
well. She suffered minor injuries during the incident and was later treated at a local hospital.
During the course of the investigation, the suspect was developed and identified as Joshua
Young, 29, whom also lives in the 200 block of Holland Ave. He was later taken into custody
without incident at his residence. He has been charged with Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling
and Attempted Rape. He has been booked into the City Jail awaiting an Initial Court Hearing.
This is an ongoing investigation.
