86 Years Of Kirkwood Theatre Guild

Steel Magnolias Opens Season Nov. 4

Heartwarming play sets
stage for comedies &
suspenseful thriller
Kirkwood Theatre Guild will open its 86th
season on Nov. 4 with the heartwarming play,
Steel Magnolias, followed by the comedy,
Wake Up Cameron Dobbs, the suspenseful
thriller, Witness for the Prosecution, and
ending with the hilarious The 25th Annual
Putnam County Spelling Bee.
Steel Magnolias
Steel Magnolias is the iconic story by Robert Harling about a group of bonded Southern
ladies in a small-town beauty parlor. Events
draw on their underlying strength and love,
alternatively hilarious and touching. Steel
Magnolias runs through Nov. 13 with showtimes: Nov. 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 at 8 p.m. and
Nov. 6 and 13 at 2 p.m.
Wake Up, Cameron Dobbs
Wake Up, Cameron Dobbs by Steve Peirick begins the New Year on Jan. 20, 2017. In
the play, nothing is easy for Cameron. Its his
30th birthday and all he is looking forward
to is a quiet dinner with just his brother and
his wife. No such luck. His sister-in-law takes
the liberty of inviting a blind date and this
brother thought that their neurotic mother
should be included. Lots of laughs and surprises ensue. The play runs through Jan. 29
with showtimes: Jan. 20, 21, 26, 26, 27 and 28
at 8 p.m. and Jan. 22 and 29 at 2 p.m.

Witness for the Prosecution

Next up is Agatha Christies Witness for
the Prosecution opening on March 10, 2017.
Only the queen of mystery could have conceived such a suspenseful thriller. A young
married man spends many evenings with a
rich, older woman. When she is found murdered, the naive fellow is the chief suspect.
The play runs through March 19 with showtimes: March 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18 at 8 p.m.
and March 12 and 19 at 2 p.m.
The 25th Annual Putnam County
Spelling Bee
The guild ends its season with The 25th
Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on May
5, 2017. Winner of the Tony and the Drama
Desk Awards for Best Book, the play has
charmed audiences across the country with
its effortless wit and humor. In the play, an
eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for
the spelling championship of a lifetime. A
riotous ride includes audience participation.
Based on the book by Rachel Sheinkin with
music and lyrics by William Finn. The show
runs through May 14 with showtimes: May 5,
6, 11, 12 and 13 at 8 p.m. and May 7 and 14
at 2 p.m.
The guild performs in the Robert G. Reim
Theatre, located at the Kirkwood Community
Center, 111 S. Geyer Road.
Season tickets go on sale Sept. 15 through
Nov. 4 with single tickets for Steel Magnolias going on sale Oct. 15. Single tickets for
