Our Family is Growing!

Congratulations Aldersgate! You have worked hard to invite and
welcome children and their families into the congregation and church
family and the fruit of your work and prayers is now present each
Sunday! During 11am Worship we now have THREE Children's Church
Classes and will soon begin considering a SECOND Children's Church
Class during 9am Worship! Don't stop the great work! It's time to help
feed these children spiritually and to build relationships with them! We
currently need two assistants in our classes each week to have a full
volunteer roster. (We need two the first Sunday of the month, we need
two the second Sunday of the month, etc.) We also need those who can
volunteer as last minute substitutes in case of family emergencies or
last minute colds/sickness that will arrive in the winter. Consider
partnering with someone to volunteer and you'll each be needed six
(out of 52) Sundays each year! To sign-up or find out more, please
contact Rachel via message on The City, via email
(RachelMiller@cvaumc.org), via phone (434-973-5806), in person, or by
marking the appropriate box on the tear off flap on your bulletin.

Welcome to our worship service!

The local church is the most significant arena through which disciples
of Jesus Christ are made and Jesus disciples reach out into the world
to share Gods love. It is in and through the church that Jesus Christ
is proclaimed and professed as Lord and Savior. Please contact me
by telephone at 434-973-5806 or complete the communication card
found in your bulletin and place it in the offering plate when it is
passed during the service if you wish to explore the meaning of
membership in the life of Aldersgate Church.
God Bless,

Pastor Rob Robertson

A Welcome for Bishop Lewis

Volunteer Opportunity

Bishop Young Jin Cho retired on August 31. A welcoming service for Bishop
Sharma Lewis will be held 10:30 am to 12noon Saturday, September 17, at
Reveille UMC, 4200 Cary Street Road, Richmond. If you are interested in
carpooling to this event, please check the box on the Communication Card
on the flap of todays worship bulletin.

If you want to help with Here WEE Grow Again but dont have the time,
you can still contribute by providing a lunch for 20 volunteers on Friday,
September 23rd and/or Saturday the 24th. If you would like to do this,
please contact Karen Chang at karen.s.chang@icloud.com or 434.284.1818
or see her after church today. Feeding our volunteers is a great way to
support the sale.

Vacation Notice

A mile in their shoes ...

Our Assistant Pastor of Congregational Care Don MacNicoll is on vacation

from Sunday Sept 4 through Sunday Sept 18. If emergency pastoral care is
needed during that time, please call the church office (973-5806), or the
parsonage if after hours (973-3214). Thank you.

Your Aldersgate Outreach and Missions Team is responding to another

need from a nearby school. Woodbrook Elementary School is requesting
some inexpensive or lightly used sneakers, so that children who do not
have sneakers can be provided appropriate footwear for PE class. Our goal
is to provide about 20 pair of sneakers (and white athletic socks too),
ranging in size from childrens size 10 up to adult size 7/8 (for both boys
and girls). Please consider helping with this project collection bins will be
made available inside both entrances to the church. If you prefer making a
monetary contribution, write Woodbrook sneakers on the memo line of
your check, and we will be happy to do the shopping for you. Thanks for
helping children of our community.

How to Help with Youth Group

Many folks have asked how they can help with Youth Group at Aldersgate
there are many ways one important way is by feeding us on Sunday
evenings!! Dinners are on Sunday evenings at the church at 6pm. ANYONE
can do this! It can be a family project, a single persons project, a Sunday
school class project, the skys the limit! Additionally, we want you to eat
dinner with us! This is a great way to spend time with the churchs young
people! If you're interested in providing dinner one Sunday evening this fall
please check the box on your bulletin flap. You can also go to The City and
pick
the
upcoming
date
that
works
best
for
you.
If you have questions, please contact Rachel via message on The City, via
phone (434-973-5806), or via email (RachelMiller@cvaumc.org)

My thanks to Aldersgates congregants

I want to express my sincerest thanks and gratitude to my Aldersgate
family for your prayers, cards, encouraging words and meals. You were
wonderful to me and my family following my hip replacement surgery in
February. In early July, I lost my mom and traveled to Australia for the
funeral and to handle her affairs. I was overwhelmed with the outpouring
of love and sympathies then and during this time of grieving. You also
financially supported my mission trip to Honduras, in June. Tom, Adam and
I feel so blessed to be members of the Aldersgate church family. May God
bless you all. Fay Painter
