THIRD GRADE TEACHER/PANTHER CREEK ELEMENTARY
August 2013 to present
I teach third grade at Panther Creek. I focus on Reading
Language Arts, to include spelling, writing, grammar, and
reading. During my three years teaching third grade, I have
seen continual progress in my students reading fluency and
comprehension. I am a member of the Leadership
Committee, with a focus on improving school behavior and
writing. I am also a member of our Local School
Improvement Council, which focuses on addressing various
local school issues. I also am in charge of our school
webpage and electronic communications with the
community. During my time at this school, I have taken on
more responsibility each year, and plan to continue my
involvement in the schools development.
GIFTED EDUCATION TEACHER/ITINERANT
August 2008 June 2013
I traveled throughout Nicholas County to six elementary
schools and two middles schools. During my time teaching
gifted, I strove to increase involvement from community
leaders and professionals with my students. I also planned
and implemented more hands-on projects and activities, to
include an annual Pumpkin Drop at WVU in Morgantown. My
students were given many challenges which they had to
solve by working either independently or in groups. While
doing this job, I was actively involved in the faculty senate at
one of the elementary schools.

EDUCATION
MASTERS CERTIFICATION IN GIFTED EDUCATION
University of North Texas, Denton Texas
December 2012
When I began teaching gifted education, I was required to
gain certification in this area. I earned this while teaching full
time. It was an online program, but it was very informative
and useful. My certification to teach gifted is valid until June
2021.

was involved in the Kappa Delta Pi, and did several service
projects through them, including a drive to increase literacy
in the local community. I graduated in the top 10% of my
class. My certification to teach in these subject areas is valid
through June 2021.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE OR LEADERSHIP

I have been a Girl Scout leader three times. I led three
different levels/age groups. I was actively involved in
planning several Girl Scout events, including a yearly summer
camp for our local troops.
I was a youth group leader at our church, Beckley Chapel, for
twelve years. I organized many events, including a yearly
Hallelujah Party, a community Vacation Bible School, and a
mission trip to a Native American Reservation near
Williamsburg, Virginia.
I have been a parish youth organizer for the Summersville
Cooperative Parish. During my time in this position, I
organized a District Youth Fellowship Picnic, to include food,
games, and worship.
I have had a private practice piano studio, in which I had
eight students. I taught lessons privately to these students,
with much success.
