Migrants in Australia since WW2 and Problems They Encounter

There were two main groups of migrants such as assisted migrants and unassisted migrants
coming in Australia after the Second World War. In this essay, the migration since World War
II will be discussed by explaining the reasons for immigrating of each group and the
problems these migrants encountered in this country.
Both assisted migrants and unassisted migrants had various reasons for migration in
Australia. First group was the assisted migrants (mostly Europeans and British) who looked
for national security and economic development in Australia. Because of the Japanese
invasion, the Australian authority has assisted the migrants in different ways such as work
contract and temporary accommodation to increase its population. Second group was the
unassisted migrants who came under their own resources (mostly Greek and Italian). They
arrived to Australia as the refugees due to the effect of the Second World War.
It was difficult for all the immigrants to fit in with a new country. In fact, both groups faced
the same type of trouble. Firstly, they had to stay at the place with primitive facilities and
poor food. This meant that immigrants had to compromise their personal life and habits due
to unfamiliar situations and least source of daily needs. Secondly, it was not easy to be
employed those days which hardened their life.
In conclusion, since the World War 2, the assisted and unassisted migrants from different
countries came to Australia seeking for better life. However, there were some challenges such
as accommodation and food to adapt new environment.
