MATERIALS:posters,flashcards,strips of paper,badges, textbook, puzzle, sheet of paper

ACTIVITY 1 WARM-UP
AIMS:

to get SS involved into the topic

to practice CAN expressing ability

to practice vocabulary related to sports and activities

to review vocabulary related to sports, introduce the students into the new lesson

PROCEDURE
The student on duty tells the absents; the teacher writes the
absentees in the catalogue; then T checks homework and students
correct mistakes, if necessary.
Ss are asked several questions about weather and their mood.T
corrects their homework (exercise 5 page 72) orally.Then,T puts
the following headings on the BB :
water sports
team sports
individual sports
T elicits one or two examples of sports for each category .In
pairs ,SS categories the sports.
Teacher asks the students: what sports and games do you like?
Students answer the question. The teacher tells students that they
will get a word puzzle and they have to work in pairs and find
twelve sports. The teacher gives the students the sheet of paper,
the students find and then read the names of the sports and games
they found.

T asks a student to come and draw a hangman .The class tries to


guess what sport is it by asking 10 questions YES/NO type.

S:Do you play it with a raquet?
S:Yes,I do.

textbook ,then they will be asked questions about what can and
cannot the characters in the story do.T writes on the BB the
names of the characters.In pairs,SS ask and answer questions
using CAN.

cannot do.They have to thick and cross it .
T elicits how many students can do each sport.T writes the
suggestions on the BB:

None of us...
Furthermore ,T shows pictures of different sports and activities
and asks SS if they can or cannot do them.

and dance.The game continues till a student cannot remember the
whole sentences and is given funny punishments.
