    Charles Babbage created the first computer with storage and input/output capabilities called the Analytical Engine, though it was never fully built. The Mark II computer had a rotating drum for calculations but stopped working after a moth became stuck in it, leading to the term "debugging". Meanwhile, the EDVAC computer was being developed based on Babbage's ideas. The UNIVAC was the first stored program computer and was used for military and government work. IBM competed with UNIVAC and had great success with its System/360 line of computers.
