Marketing: there was one teaser trailer released at
the end of 2014. The first official trailer was
released in the spring of 2015 and the final trailer
was released in October 2015. There was also a
poster that was released for it.
Tie-in products: there was a novelisation of the film that was released.
There are also many toys that were released
based on the characters and vehicles from the
film. There was also a Lego videogame based on
the movie.
SFX: there were many practical effects used in
the film. Many of the creatures and aliens were
practical creations. There was also a lot of CGI
used in scenes that involved large space battles. Motion capture was used
to create various alien characters.
Problems: Harrison Ford broke his ankle on the
set of the movie when the door of the
Millennium Falcon opened and trapped his
ankle. It twisted it at a 90-degree angle.
