Why dont I use KUNDA?

(A KE consumer story)
Its very easy to say that if electricity shut-down put a KUNDA to get light in the room. Walking on the streets
of Karachi it is not surprising for the people when they see cobweb of wires from houses to the electricity
poles, Being a Karachite I am also used to the word KUNDA and now every Pakistani knows very well that how
to stick his hands in normal load-shading hours. KE (Karachi Electric) is the main provider of the electricity in
this so called City of Light which drowns in black for more than 8 hours daily in many areas/location.
After a busy day when I reached home my mother said Bijli ka bill aya hai. I asked, yes whats new in it. She
said, its about PKR 36,816. This was the sudden jolt to me and I was grasping her words with my ears to
understand what she said. I looked into the bill thoroughly and found that the amount PKR 34,977 is being
charged as arrears. It is very surprising for me that billing mode is Normal and there is no reason for
charging the said amount as arrears. I made a complaint on KE 118-Response Centre, where the person
entered my complaint and gave me a complaint number.
Next day, my younger brother visited KE office near Power House, North Karachi and got the comments from
KE staff that Tum nay KUNDA lagaya hoga He said, do you have any evidence for alleging me the electricity
theft as I paid all previous bills and the current bill is also in normal mode? But the honest and loyal KE staff
was rigid to their remarkable remarks and was not in mood of listen any logical word. Unfortunately, I am
living in the area of North Karachi where total load-shading time is more than 7 hours daily and power
breakdown is 3-times a day with extra late-night black-out. For the remedy of this KE abscesses, every house
has the compulsion of electricity generator in my area and additionally I have solar panel for power absence.
Its my intention that at-least I will not put my hands for getting electricity in this unethical and illegal
way. Again, I called 118 for the status of my complaint and the person advised me to send email
on bill@ke.com.pk.
As per advised, I sent email with all my bill details and got the reply that our concern department is working
on your complaint, and this work is still in-progress after 2 month of email correspondence with above email
address. In these two months. Me and my brother visited KE office time to time but didn't get any positive
response from the power provider of City of Light. Now, they are saying shamelessly that You have to pay
this bill with arrears included without any reason.
The arrears are still in the bill of every month delivered by KE, which leads me to the conclusion that why dont
I use KUNDA and the people having wires on poles is doing right in the current circumstances at-least they
have reason to do this after paying illicit billing by the honest and loyal electricity distribution company of
largest city of Pakistan.
