1. Line Segment a straight line which links two points without extending beyond them.

- A line with definite end points.


- The word "segment" is important, because a line normally extends in both directions
without end.
- Line segment is the part of a line consisting of two endpoints and all points between
them.
2. Midpoint of a segment A point on a line segment that divides it into two equal parts
- The halfway point of a line segment.
- The point that is halfway between the endpoints of the line segment.
3. End point a point at which a line segment or a ray ends.
4. Ray A portion of a line which starts at a point and goes off in a particular direction to infinity.
- A part of a line that begins at a particular point (called the endpoint) and extends
endlessly in one direction.
- A ray is also called half-line.
5. Opposite rays Two rays with a common endpoint that point in opposite directions and form a
straight line.
