WEEK 3 Sept.

5th 9th
Students will read multiple short stories to study universal truths about the human
condition. Dialogue, foreshadowing, imagery will be illustrated to analysis complex
and believable characters. The reading selections will serve as a springboard for a
student generated memoir.

WEEK 4 Sept. 12th 16th
Short stories will continue with a focus on short answer responses (SAR). Teacher
will model a fully processed SAR.

Tue 9/13 conclude MDG / Question & Answer
Wed 9/14 Fri 9/16 Scarlet Ibis / Q&A / SAR on Fri
WEEK 5 Sept. 19th 23rd
Short story assessment will be administered.

Tue 9/20 Fear Assessment (GREEN BACK NIGHT)
Wed 9/21 Glass Castle Activity
Thur 9/22 SAR drafting
Fri 9/23 Publish / Submit SAR
WEEK 6 Sept. 26th 30th
Poetry will be introduced to our students. Teacher lead model of analysis and
interpretation will eventually allow students to independently synthesize and make
connections with a reading selection. Diction, imagery and figurative language will
shed a spotlight on the reading selections.
WEEK 7 Oct. 3rd - Oct. 7th
Poetry unit will continue and conclude with an assessment. Early dismissal will
occur on Friday October 7th.
