Solar System

Refers to a star and all the objects that travel in orbit around it. Our
solar system consists of the sun - our star - eight planets and their
natural satellites (such as our moon); dwarf planets; asteroids and
comets.
Our solar system is located in an outward spiral of the Milky Way
galaxy.
Formed 4.6 billion years ago from the gravitational collapse of a giant
interstellar molecular cloud.
It is said to be that the mass of this system is 1.0014 Solar Masses and
4.568 billion years old.

The Planets (In Order)

Mercury
smallest planet in the Solar System and the one closest to the Sun.
orbital period of about 88 Earth days, which is much faster than any
other planet in the Solar System.
second densest planet after Earth,.

Venus
second planet from the Sun, orbiting it every 224.7 Earth days.
It has the longest rotation period (243 days) of any planet in the Solar
System and rotates in the opposite direction to most other planets.
no natural satellite.
named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty.
sometimes called Earth's "sister planet" because of their similar size,
mass, proximity to the Sun, and bulk composition.

Earth
also known as the World
third planet from the Sun, the densest planet in the Solar System, the
largest of the Solar System's four terrestrial planets, and the only
astronomical object known to harbor life.
Fifth largest planet.
Only planet who has life to hold humans.

Mars
second-smallest planet in the Solar System, after Mercury.
often referred to as the "Red Planet.
approximately half the diameter of Earth.
One of the planets who has undergone several expedition.

Jupiter
fifth planet from the Sun and the largest in the Solar System.
has at least 67 moons including the largest which is Ganymede.
covered in thick red, brown, yellow and white clouds. The clouds make
the planet look like it has stripes.
interior is made of rock, metal, and hydrogen compounds.

Saturn
Second largest planet.
Also called ring planet .
has 62 known moons, 53 of which have formal names.
best known for the system of planetary rings that makes it visually
unique.
Uranus
third-largest planetary radius and fourth-largest planetary mass.
has two sets of very thin dark coloured rings.
officially discovered by Sir William Herschel in 1781.

turns on its axis once every 17 hours, 14 minutes.

Neptune
eight planet from the solar system.
Considered as one of the ice giants.
first planet to get its existence predicted by mathematical calculations.
cloud cover has an especially vivid blue tint that is partly due to an asyet-unidentified compound.
has 14 known moons.
