This study examined the relationship between family planning method use and spotting among acceptors at Puyung Public Health Center in 2016. The study used a case-control design with 47 respondents who experienced spotting as cases and 47 without spotting as controls. Bivariate analysis found a significant relationship between method use and spotting (p=0.000), with hormonal method users 5.26 times more likely to experience spotting than non-hormonal method users. The study concludes there is a relationship between family planning method use and spotting at Puyung Public Health Center, and recommends intensifying promotion of non-hormonal methods like IUD, MOW, and MOP to decrease spotting.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE USING OF FAMILY PLANNING
METHOD AND SPOTTING ON FAMILY PLANNING ACCEPTOR
AT PUYUNG PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER IN 2016 KARMIATI PUBLIC HEALTH FACULTY Abstract The using of family planning method is a type of family planning used by acceptor such as family planning hormonal includes implant, pill, family planning injection for 1 month, family planning injection for 3 months, and non hormonal family planning type includes IUD, condom, MOP, MOW. Spotting is bloodstain beyond menstruation period which can cause anemia and as the main problem in the using of family planning as shown in data of Puyung Public Health Center in 2015 in the amount of 75%. This study aimed to know the relationship between the using of family planning method and spotting at Puyung Public Health Center in 2016. This study used survey analytic by case control approach. Case samples in the amount of 47 respondents who got spotting and other 47 respondents as control samples who did not have spotting. The samples are taken from data of Puyung Public Health Center on February up to March 2016. Result of bivariate test using coefficient contingency formula got p value = 0.000 < 0.05 (significant) showed there was a relationship between the using of family planning method and spotting at Puyung Public Health Center in 2016 and result of OR test= 5.26 meant the using of hormonal family planning has probability to spotting in the amount of 5.26 times compared with the using of non hormonal family planning. Based on the result of study it can be concluded that there was a relationship between the using of family planning method and spotting at Puyung. Related to the conclusion it is suggested to the Head of Puyung Public Health Center to decrease spotting by doing intensive effort to promote the using of family planning method non hormonal like IUD, MOW, MOP at Puyung Public Health Center in 2016.
