Ob case study 2

Introduction
Company name DSS consulting
Founded on 1997
Location usa
Status consultancy service provider
CEO- meg cook
Introduction: 1] The company was founded by three retired school district
administrators to help small school districts that had limited staff deal with
difficult and somewhat specialized administrative problems.

Problem of the case

The changes and new structure had created dissatisfaction and a fair amount of
anxiety among many of DSSs consultants.

The practice groups were maintained to provide specialized expertise to support the
cross functional teams in their work but with many fewer staff members than in the
past.

Chris peterson group lacked any solid connection with other groups in organisation,
thus groups were not very inclined to help out.

All of them had at least one story about how they had been delayed in a project
because the people they were working with in the district were not able to get accurate
data about budgets or long term plans

Fact of case:-

Chris Peterson was assigned to lead a newly formed regional consulting team at DSS
Consulting. She carefully selected the team members, built a cohesive group, and led
the team in developing a new consulting service.

Both Peterson and her team were satisfied with their accomplishments and ability to
overcome the indifference of others in the organization. Petersons boss, however, felt

differently, raising questions about the teams performance and Petersons ability to
lead.

The practice groups were maintained to provide specialized expertise to support the
cross functional teams in their work but with many fewer staff members than in past.

Meg thanked chris for all the hard work on the project and mentioned that she had
heard very positive things about chriss leadership from members of the southwest
region team.
Conclusion:

As a manager or leader it is not only important to be able to manage your own team
but also to learn how to build relationships with people outside , this is called
networking.
Clearly, we want people to be pulling in same direction within an organisation, we
dont want everyone going in different direction any more than we want a team of
horse pulling in different direction.
