TWISTER

Low-Speed Surface Aerator

Delivers the Highest Oxygen
Transfer Rates Available from
Mechanical Aeration
The Twister aerator provides outstanding mixing and
durability for wastewater treatment and supplemental
aeration. The slow-moving rotating turbines specially
designed vanes create a strong pumping force that pulls
water up from the basin. This provides an ideal air-to-water
interface, creates high oxygen transfer, and optimizes the
wastewater treatment process.

High Efficiency & Maximum Durability

The Twister aerator converts the least amount of energy into
the maximum amount of rotor torque for excellent aeration
and deep basin mixing. The reinforced plastic rotor is wearresistant, molded around a central steel frame, and filled
with closed-cell foam for maximum structural support. The
rotors smooth-edge design is proven to prevent snared rags
and bags. When activated, the Twister aerator turns at a
slow speed (typically 40 to 100 rpm). Motors are specifically
designed for outdoor use in wet environments and can be
supplied to meet any power requirement. Models are available
from 2 to 150 HP (1.5 to 110 kW) and 50 or 60 Hz service.

Float-Mounted or Fixed Unit

Twister aerators can be float-mounted using
a three-pod stainless steel float and support
infrastructure, allowing the unit to move up
and down with water levels. The stainless
steel pontoons are filled with closed-cell
polymer foam, making for a rugged, long-life
float system. With a flotation safety factor of
two, a 250 pound (114 kg) operator can safely
step on the fully assembled float and aerator
system to check equipment or perform routine
maintenance. Twister aerators can also be
installed as a fixed unit, mounted to an existing
bridge or platform. Fixed-mount aerators have
four mounting studs, allowing for proper level
and height adjustment.

Twister Applications

The Twister aerator operates correctly from the

beginning and keeps functioning properly without
time-consuming maintenance.
The floating rotor eases installation and reduces
axial stress on the gearbox.

All bearings are ball or roller-type, and standard

units are dip or splash lubricated providing a

constant flow of oil to all surfaces without the need
for pumps or piping.

Available gearbox convenience features include a

sight glass for monitoring the oil level while the unit
is operating and gasket covers for gear inspection
without disassembly.

The Twister is ideal for applications where very high

oxygen transfer is required. Twister are highly suited for
use in oxidation ditches when installed at the radius and
used in conjunction with supplemental mixers installed
in the channels of the oxidation ditch. Twister aerators
are ideally suited in combination with other aeration and
mixing technologies. As a safety measure, rotor guards,
splash guards, platforms, access ladders and handrails
can be added.
