Just Lather, Thats All Model TIQA

In the short story Just Lather, Thats All how is the barber
characterized?
One way the barber is characterized is through his background.
While sharpening his razors the barber is stunned to see Captain
Torres walk into his shop. Even though Captain Torres is his enemy the
barber greets him like any other customer and begins to shave the
man. The barber thinks to himself, I would be obliged to shave that
beard like any other one, carefully, gently, like that of any other
customer, taking pains to see that no single pore emitted a drop of
bloodYes, I was secretly a rebel, but I was also a conscientious
barber, and proud of the precision required of my profession. The
author reveals that the barber takes pride in his profession. This is
illustrated when the barber describes himself as conscientious.
However, the barber is also working as an informant for the rebels.
Therefore, the barber is faced with conflicted loyalties. Part of him
wants to perform his job admirably while the other wants vengeance
for his fallen comrades.

Summary
The short story Just Lather, Thats All, by Hernando Tellez,
takes place during the Colombian Civil War. The story follows a barber
who is secretly a rebel and a solder-Captain Torres who kills rebels
publically. The captain comes into the barbers shop for a shave. The
barber debates with himself if he should take this opportunity to kill
the captain or let him go. Ultimately, the barber lets the captain go
and the captain admits that he knew the barber was a rebel and that
he might have murdered him.
