PREFACE

Theoritical knowledge without practical knowledge experience in general

and particularly in graduation is incomplete. So to get the perfection
in my graduation subjects, i was given the first opportunity to undergo six
weeks in plant training at Sigma cooperation India Ltd., Bhondsi,Gurgaon
These six weeks training was really pleasant period for me. I got high
knowledge about all those principales which i had studied earlier in the
institute.I saw one main thing that the basic principle remains the same
but their operations widely differ on items time to time.
During the practical training i have gained high knowledge about the
function/working process of the organisation.

INTRODUCTION
Sigma Corporation India Ltd. manufactures and markets automotive components to the
automobile industry. The companys products include link bars, die casts, pneumatic mounts,
bushes, exhaust rubber parts, suspension wish bones, harmonic balancers, vibration dampers,
spring brakes, rollers, pins, nuts, cam shaft repair kits, and wheel nuts and studs. Additionally, it
provides clamps, torque arms, aeration and rotary blades, and rubber rollers. The company has
strategic alliances with Pyung HWA and Beltan Vibracoustic. Sigma Corporation is headquartered
in New Delhi, India.

HISTORY
Santokh Singh, a brilliant Indian entrepreneur launched the firm
that was to create a revolutionary trend in rubber parts
manufacturing. Sigma became the most preferred automotive
rubber parts manufacture worldwide and continues to be the
market leader. Sigma acquired the No. 1 position in the field and
today is recognized as the undisputed leader among Asian
aftermarket rubber automotive manufacturers

Over the past three decades and more, Sigma has extended its
network into most industrialized nations across the globe. With a
strategy that centers around customer satisfactions, the company
has wide acceptance for its reliability and commitment.

Established in the year 1964 Product Range of over 10,000
different Engine & Transmission Mounts and other Rubber Parts
for almost every automobile on the road. Produced and sold over

110 million mounts so far creating a history of its kind in the

worldwide aftermarkets.
Committed customer base of over 90 strong distribution spread
over each continent of the world. All other group companies are
strictly serving the Global OEM's

1985 / Staying Ahead

The parent company was partitioned following the demise of Mr.
Santokh Singh. This rendered an opportunity to all the successors
to prove their mettle in the field of their choice. Continuing in the
same entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality as their
founder, Mr. Jagdip Singh & Mr Taranjit Singh have led Sigma to its
present stature. At Sigma R & D has always been of paramount
importance.
Upgradation of technology has always kept our products ahead of
times. This has been effected by the establishment of Independent
state-of-the-art plants and joint ventures with global automotive
giants such as Freudenberg Germany & NOK Japan for supply to
the Global OEM's in Automotive & General Industry. The Company
has strong relationship with the group's alliance partners such as
FNGP Detroit and others worldwide.
After market operations at Sigma are spread over several

manufacturing plants with a total covered area of 16,000 sq.mrts /

160,000 sq.ft. The Company has completed fresh 7 million USD
investment during the year 2005 & 2006.

Manufacturing Process

The Precision Machine Shop

Comprises of Lathe machines, Semi Automatic Lathes, Turret
Lathes,

Boring

machines,

Broaching

machines,

induction

hardening furnaces, Shaping & Planning machines, Milling

machines, centerless, cylindrical and surface grinders, MIG, ARC
& Spot Welding machines etc.

Sheet Metal Press Shop

Sigma has 85 Mechanical & Hydraulic Sheet Metal Presses,
Producing 500 tons of components each month. Specialised &
experienced mechanical engineers alongwith supervisory staff
execute deep drawings of upto 200mm (8 inches) in depth. Our
press shops are facilitated with computerized shearing machines,
mechanical power presses ranging from 60-350 tons and double
action hydraulic power presses of 150-300 tons. Automotive grade
fasteners as per DIN, JIS, SAE and BS are welded to stampings to
achieve the required torque strength.

The Surface Treatment

A computer controlled Phosphating Plant with Automatic
Transporter and 14 Process Tanks has been installed for
treating metal components. Sigma is the only automobile
rubber parts manufacturer in India to possess this facility.
Complementing the Phosphating Plant in surface treatment
are Automatic Degreasing machines, Shot & Sand Blasting
machines. Electroplating is also done in-house.

The Rubber Processing

For the vast range of automobile rubber parts that Sigma
produces each month, various type of rubber compounds are
used. These are tested to obtain curing characteristics,
tensile strength, elongation, hardness, ageing and durability.
High quality rubber compounds are produced according to
customer specification. Intermixers, Kneaders & Open mixing

mills are used

to

produce around 200 tones of Rubber

Compound each month. These compounds are then

marked and kept in air conditioned chambers. The
entire process is monitored by qualified Rubber
Technologists.

The Rubber Moulding

Sigma's automotive rubber moulding division is by far the
largest in the country, with over 75 machines producing
nearly 700,000 general moulded rubber parts per month. All
the four widely used moulding processes are employed:
Computerised as well as PLC Controlled Injection Moulding,
PLC Controlled Transfer Moulding and compression Moulding

experience period for me. I have practical all about what i have studied in the theory
classes. It helps me to know the various principal. This is excellent for me as have
introduced to the industrial atmosphere for a long period. With the help of training
incharge & workers i have undrstood the working method. To handle the delicate
problems. SIGMA COOPERATION INDIA LTD. is a successful & complete
organisation. It has also got well qualified & discipline staff. There is very good
relationship between workers, staff members, and supervisors of plant or departments
of the company. I will never forget my this training period of because know about
such a good organisation and such the brilliant staff & employees of the organisation.
I heartly thankful to those who help me directly & indirectly during my training.
