Have you ever heard an Exam being postponed for 2

months??
Well this just happened at a University
ranked 5 th in India by Webometrics
Ranking of World Universities.The well
known Cochin University Of Science
and Technology.

commence on 21 st April(DOH!). It so happens that the

results of the Special supplementary examinations
were still not announced, so the examinations got
postponed to 5th on May.
But again the results weren't published by May! so
very conveniently they just postponed the exams
again by 2 months!

THE INCIDENT:

PERSONAL ANGLE :

2 nd April

201 5 , 5:30 a.m - Enthralled by the trauma of the

Exams to be commenced on 5 th April 201 5 ,I started
contemplating.With explicable determination I chose to
circumvent the recurrent annoyance of my phone by
switching it off! (Big Deal for a Teenager). I become
engrossed in the studies.
7:20 a.m- My room-mate springs up from his dormant
state ,looks at me with eminent bewilderment and says "Why are you studying? The exam will be postponed for
sure!". And I responded - "Oh Please! ,the exam's in two
days! and besides it has already been postponed once!
don't waste time arguing about it and kindly study!"
As I try to focus on my studies I hear constant buzzing of
phones with notifications.
1 p.m - I switch on my phone to go through notifications,
only to be startled to see hundreds of messages popping
up on my class's whatsapp group ! (well its supposedly
desolate during exam days). As I read through some
random messages I realise that everyone has disengaged
from their studies, and it seems that a date sheet change
is imminent ,I still didn't lose hope! I was wistful of the
exams getting over soon so I can go for a holiday after 2
long years! (yes! we never got more than 1 0-1 5 days of
holidays since joining this ferocious institution).

(to the administration) First of all realise that if you

can't make a calculated decision , you are not worthy
of the position you are in ! CUSAT is a reputed
university with students coming in from all over the
World! so their plans depend on your decisions!
As in my case I'm not a resident of kerala and not
financially well off to purchase flight tickets for the very
next day. I've to book the train tickets in about 4
months in advance, and now you see , you have
ruined my plans!
I'm caught up in this desolate and unlively place for
the past 2 years because of the erratic schedule by
the university. All my friends in other colleges or
universities get about 2 - 2.5 months of holidays! Oh!
that God Damn moment at which going by the
statistics and ranking I decided to get admission in an
institution affiliated to this prestigious university and
ruin my life for ever.
If this is the predicament without the much publicly
denounced N-4 rule, the
dystopia that will ensue
upon its implementation
can be envisioned.
