BOLARINWA AFOLABI

CONTRAST BETWEEN RICH FOR ONE DAY AND THE

LOTTERY TICKET

In dearest opinion and mentality, Ivan and

Aline have two different personalities, this
becomes clear in reference to happiness in
the stories. These are points to the
dissimilarity between Ivan and Aline. Ivan
wants more money which shows lack of
contentment. The other forty thousand I
would put it in the bank and get interest on it
(Chekov, 8). Then she remembered she was
rich today, she had eight dollars a fortune.
(Rich, 3). Aline is happy with a small amount
of money, which shows contentment. To
spite her at the fourth page in the newspaper
and read it out triumphantly, series 9,499,
number 46, not 26. (Chekov, 10). Ivan is not
happy with his life and is not mature. Aline
felt like converting the whole world to her
style of living. (Rich, 7). Aline is happy about
her life. This shows contrast between how
they define happiness. Of course, of all that
is silly nonsense. (Chekov, 8). Ivan thinks
negatively and a very deep pessimistic

perspective of life. Aline has great perspective
on life and is optimistic. She laughed and
sighed as she did her laughter in her warm
pillow. How sweet it is. (Rich, 2). In
conclusion Ivan and Aline are of different
personalities and have different perspectives
of life itself.
