5 Senses:
This week we learned about our sense of taste with a taste test. We learned the
places on our tongue where we can taste sweet, salty, sour and bitter. Second, we
learned about our sense of touch. We learned that our skin has receptors that tell
our brains how things feel.
Math:
In math we have been using a variety of ways to count and represent
quantities.
We started a Counting Jar book to record quantities of different objects. We
are practicing using a die to see how a number is represented with dots and
recording what we roll.
Skills:
We have been practicing training our ears to hear sounds in words and trying
other fancy strokes to strengthen our hands for writing letters.
We have been learning about how to take apart sounds in a 3 sound word ex:
cat . We do this without letters first so we can train our ears to hear it first.
We use our arm to sound out words. Start at shoulder with opposite hand,
then touch elbow, last wrist to segment the sounds. c/ a/ t/
We practice blending the sounds by sweeping our opposite hand over the
arm. cat
