Residence

On Thursday, September 22, 2016, a Madison resident reported

she was missing jewelry from her residence.

The victim further

reported that on September 12, 2016, a Hispanic female knocked on

her door and stated she worked for the Public Works Department of
the City of Madison.

This person told the victim that they

needed to go into their backyard to look at trees that may need

to be removed for the implementation of an underground powerline.
The victim and her husband accompanied the female into the
backyard leaving the front door unlocked.

The female had a two-

way radio with her and appeared to speak to someone on the radio.
Once in the backyard and after looking at the trees the female
advised what was believed to be a male person over the two-way
radio that they were finished and returning to the house.

The

victim reported that the female left the residence in a newer

model white car.

No other persons were seen in the house or

area.

On September 18, 2016, the victim discovered three rings

missing from her residence valued at $1,000.

Investigators determined that the Hispanic female was not an
employee of the City of Madison.

She was described as 56, in

her 30s, with reddish brown hair pulled back, wearing a maroon
shirt and khaki pants.

There were no markings on the females

clothing to indicate she was an employee of the City of Madison.

Anyone that may have experienced a similar incident or has
information on this incident is asked to call the Madison Police
Department at (601) 856-6111.
If a person approaches a resident claiming to be a City of
Madison employee they should check to ensure the person is
wearing a city uniform that indicates they are employed by the
city (with a city logo on shirt).

If residents are in doubt as

to the authenticity of the persons identity or intentions, they

should contact the Madison Police Department at (601) 856-6111.
