Job Summary & Responsibilities
Puget Sound Energys Customer and System Projects department in South King County is looking for an Associate Engineer
to join our team! This role develops site specific AutoCad designs to support planning, design, construction, operations and
maintenance of the natural gas delivery system. Under minimal supervision of more experienced staff, prepares solutions to
a wide range of technical problems through the application of standard engineering practices and principles. There will be
opportunities to evaluate asset performance and risk assessment leading towards practical and cost effective solutions and
sound technical decisions.
This position contributes to the development of policies, standards and procedures that are in compliance with applicable
codes and regulations. The ideal candidate will also participate on project teams to support the successful completion of
projects designed to improve and maintain the natural gas delivery system. This job also upholds the safety compliance
standards inherent in PSEs operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities and promotes and supports a
culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities
Prepares site specific drawings in AutoCad
Applies basic engineering principles, practices, theories, and methods and use of commonly applied engineering
approaches and calculations.
Uses judgment in the selection and application of engineering methods, the modification of standard models, designs, or
procedures, and when correlating data and recognizing discrepancies in results.
Prepares performs engineering studies and designs, conducts office, and field research.
Supports other during review of technical plans, designs, specifications, or standards
Identifies potential areas of weakness with assigned work and initiates corrective action.
Ensures compliance with codes, standards, and design requirements.
Supports emergency response work as requested including immediate and extended restoration efforts driven by weather
and other system failures.

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or other appropriate engineering discipline.
Entry level to 3 years of experience in engineering design, preparation of specifications, technical field work, or system
studies.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of or ability to acquire an EIT certificate.
Knowledge of engineering economics and analysis.
Experience in project cost estimating or scheduling.
Curriculum emphasis in power engineering for individuals focused on the electrical system.
Work or internship experience in utility engineering or related fields.
