Reflection
The Multimedia Design Project was completed as a part of my ITEC 7445 Multimedia
and Website Design in Education course in the Spring of 2016. The project required that I
develop and implement an engaging, technology-based learning experience for students using
Web 2.0 tools and resources. I was required to use the best research-based practices and
strategies in the development of the multimedia project. My final result was a WebQuest-style
website that led students in the creation of their own virtual museum based on Ancient Egypt.
The students were required to produce a final oral presentation for peers and publish their work
online to a local and global audience.
This project gave me the opportunity to improve my website and graphic design skills in
addition to applying the research-based best practices to model and facilitate technology
integration to improve student learning outcomes. Technology coaches must be able to
demonstrate effective ed-tech integration for constructivist learning purposes with patience,
perseverance, and adeptness in order to prove their merit to stakeholders. By demonstrating my
own enthusiasm for WebQuest missions that encourage constructivist tasks through the modeling
process, I was able to open the hearts and minds of teachers who had previously pushed against
technology. Facilitating the implementation process gave me the opportunity to demonstrate my
ability to support stakeholders in the use of technology for project-based learning. Being able to

troubleshoot the same tools we recommend to teachers and also apply them in real world
educational settings while students are learning is a key part of garnering teacher support.
In the future, I would include additional assistive technology tools within the website. I
had included audio narration in English and Arabic, but I would have benefitted from having a
built-in dictionary and translation tool in the site as well. It would have also been good for me to
include links to tools for assistive technology for any teachers who wish to use the WebQuest.
Though I implemented the MDP as only a pilot enrichment program, I sparked the
interest in WebQuests at the school, and some teachers are eager to make their own quests for
next year over the school break, and practice making websites to use in the computer lab
containing directories of resources for students to use during online research and technology
skills practices, games, drills. This has created an opening for a WebQuest workshop this
summer that is now in the works. The positive impact may be assessed by positive survey results
of stakeholders regarding the increased emphasis of technology and equitable access measures
now in place as we reach the year's end.
