Day: M T W T F

Date: 6/9/2016_____Time: _____________ Year: 8_______

Learning Area: _Digital______________ Topic: _camera shots/ camera angles____

Curriculum content description: (from ACARA)
Development and refine media production skills to shape the technical and symbolic
elements of images, sounds and text for a specific purpose or meaning (ACAMAM068)
Students prior knowledge and experience:
Students have been learning about camera angles prior to the lesson and have created a
slide show showing the effect various camera angles have on a picture or video.
Learning purpose: To show an understanding of various camera angles and why or when
they are used to enhance pictures or videos.
Learning objectives:
On completion of this lesson, students
will be able to:
The students will have a hands on
experience of camera angles and shots after
learning the theory.

Evaluation:
The students will show us the angles and
shots they have taken and explain what type
of angle or shot it is, e.g.; long shot, close up
etc. Then explain why and when they would
use that angle or shot.

Preparation and Resources:

3x cameras
12x students
Access to areas with flowers/gardens to take pictures.
A list of various camera angles and shots.

Catering for diversity

Not to call on students that are shy or anxious. Leave the more simple questions for the
lower level students to answer so they are included in the discussion.
Start by going through the camera angles to refresh their memory.

Timing:

Learning Experiences:
1. Introduction: (How will I engage the learners?)
I will start by explaining that being able to use the cameras is a
reward for their good behaviour.

2. Sequence of learning experiences: (What will you do to help the

students achieve the learning objectives? What tasks and activities will
the students be involved in to help achieve the learning objectives?)
Split them into 3 groups of 2
Explain they are using the cameras to take pictures of the various
camera angles and shots
Give each group 4 different camera angles
Ask them what each shot or angle looks like and give a quick
explanation
Let them know only appropriate photos are to be taken and to only
take a picture of a
fellow student if they say it is okay.

3. Lesson conclusion: (How will you summarise the learning and relate it
to the lesson objectives?)
Get each group to show the pictures they have taken, and get
them to explain what show it is and a quick explanation to show
they understand what that shot looks like and why it is used.
Finish by thanking them for cooperating so well and acting
sensible with the cameras.

Lesson Evaluation:
(Reflect on the lesson. What worked? What did not work? What would you change? Why?)
I feel the lesson went well however was very quick and easy for them. If we were
to do it again I would try and make it more challenging for them by perhaps
giving them the description of the angle or shots and it is up to them to work out
which on it is.
