2.0 Role of Teachers as Agents of Change in Curriculum
- Teacher is a central to any curriculum implementation. - directly involve with the implementation of curriculum in the classroom. - develop his or her own professional development (strategies and interpersonal skills) which are essential for managing change within the school. - must adhere to the essence of innovation (change) while adapting it to their students. - must be able to manage the transition from old to new, encourage others to try new ways and willing to take the risk of trying new ways. - KSSR as the new directions in Malaysian Curriculum - government inspired. - strategy to push schools into adopting a more technically and vocationally relevant curriculum. (MEB 4-1) - Intensifying teacher support to ensure the curriculum is accurately translated into classroom teaching through better teaching resources. - The change agent in any process of curriculum implementation may be defined by the number of roles he or she is expected to fulfil - he or she may be regarded as a decision-maker, analyst, practitioner or researcher. - these roles are overlapping and it may play several at any one time. - teacher should employ re-educative and rational strategies.
