The most dreaded questions for almost all the fresh job seekers is
Tell me something about yourself
When you talk about yourself, please keep the following points in mind:
1. Be confident and concise in your talk.
2. Whatever you talk, it should reflect that sense of pride in you.
3. To prove to be an ideal candidate to the recruiter, you have to focus on how your
knowledge , skills , attitude and your ability to work with others can benefit the
recruiter.
4. Your tone should reflect the humility of the most knowledgeable and down to
earth person.
Elements of your Self Introduction: ( To start off , think of a catchy quote that defines
your personality better or a few adjectives with the letters of your first name)
Your Name: I am or My name is... Myself is a strict No
Where do you hail from? : I come from a beautiful (or any other word that reflects your
sense of pride) village in Uttar Pradesh instead of I come from a small village in Uttar
Pradesh.
One line about your family and what you have imbibed from your family?
I come from a very humble/ down to earth/ simple / religious/ traditional family. My
parents have taught me to be diligent and passionate towards my work.
Talk about your work experience, if any.
Talk about your academics in reverse chronological order, paying more attention to
PGDM and share only those learnings which are related to the job.
Talk about what you are good at ( your skills and strengths). Share specific
information significant to the job requirements.
Students should visit the website of the company and must understand the job description
carefully. Also need to speak to some alumni. They need to be ready to answer questions
like:
a. How are they better than the other candidates?( Some additional qualification and
experience).
b. Why are they better fit in terms of job?
c. What skills they have in terms of job requirement?
Talk about your SIP experience. It would include:

Where did you do your internship?


What was your responsibility?/ What was the task given to you?
How did you execute the task?
What were your major learning?

Conclude your introduction gracefully by saying Thank you.
