Housing and Supported Housing Benefit News

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions has said
that supported housing will remain exempt from Local
Housing Allowance cap until April 2019.
After April 2019 a local top up system will be introduced.
The Government has also said that when the new funding
model is introduced it will make sure that it continues to be
funded at current levels, whilst thinking about the policy on
social sector rents.
In the written statement it says
Supported accommodation is very important in supporting
the lives of vulnerable people.
A safe and stable home with support can give better
outcomes for lots of people to help them then live
independently.
The Government values the role supported housing plays
and is committed to encouraging further development to
meet future demand.
The Government spoke to providers, local authorities,
charities about the funding for housing benefit.
