What factors must be considered when selecting a

homogenizer?

Flow rate: what processing flow rate is required for the machine?

Operating pressure: what homogenizing pressure produces the desired results?

What is the maximum operating pressure needed for the homogenizer?

Operating temperature: what is the maximum temperature of the liquid when it

enters the homogenizer? Temperatures greater than 220 F (104 C) may require
a special machine design.

What is the physical nature of the product?

Viscosity: this helps in the selection of the pump design.

Presence of undissolved solids. This could affect pumping.

Size of the solid particles. This could affect pumping.

Hardness of the particles: may necessitate wear resistant materials.

Presence of flammable liquids: this will require explosion proof electrical

components.

Aseptic conditions for the product: a special pump design would be needed.

Environmental concerns if the product is released into the area around the
machine: this would require a special pump design.
