Eoy Appeal Letter
Eoy Appeal Letter
December, 2014
What a year of blessings you have bestowed on us! We have so much to celebrate and yet so much to do
this coming year. Because of your generosity, we are going to be able to serve more families this year than
ever before. In fact, five families will be home for the holidays because of your support!
Here are a few things we are thankful for this holiday season:
St. Vrain Valley Habitat is building 8 homes this fiscal year
Four of those homes are for families directly impacted by the 2013 flood
Habitat completed 17 repairs to flood damaged homes with 4 more in progress
Habitat is building homes in Longmont, Lyons and Dacono right now
We couldnt have accomplished any of this without your support. There are currently 14 families in the St.
Vrain Valley who have partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build new homes and transform their lives
in the process. We recently purchased more property in Longmont and Dacono to serve these families.
While the flood is becoming a distant memory for many, we are continuing to meet the needs of those
who were impacted by the flood. In addition to the four families
we are currently partnering with, five more homes will be built
with families who lost their homes or were otherwise impacted
by the flood. We know that there are more families, particularly in
Lyons, who will need our critical repair services in the coming year.
We are excited about the future for our families but we cant make those dreams a reality without your support.
Please consider a gift to Habitat this holiday season or contribute to St. Vrain Valley Habitat on Colorado Gives Day.
With your support we can continue to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to those in need in our community.
God bless you and yours!

Executive Director

Habitat Happenings
Now Building in Lyons!
The Vasquez Family. Ramon and Carman Vasquez used to live on Park
Street in Lyons, Colorado, with their two sons Aaron and Alex. Aaron is
a sophomore at Lyons High School while Alex goes to Lyons Elementary.
Ramon is legally blind and also faces other health challenges. The Vasquez
family are third generation Lyons residents and love their community.
Their lives were changed forever the night of September 12, 2013 when a
flood swept into their neighborhood. They were evacuated from their home
in rushing waters.
The Vasquez home was inundated and eventually declared uninhabitable.
They lost all their belongings. They are currently living in an apartment
in Longmont. While they have
received help from FEMA and the local
community, they did not know how
they would ever restore their home.
In July they turned to Habitat for help. Habitat has demolished the old
structure and is building a new home on their property. Habitat is working
with the flood insurance company and local bank to make sure that the family
will be able to stay in this new home.
They look forward to returning to their own space in their own community
soon. When asked what having their home rebuilt would mean to the family,
Ramon said, My littlest son will be able to play in the backyard and not be
cooped up in the apartment all the time. It will be great to be back in Lyons
again. Thanks to the Lord our God first and thank you folks for a lot of things
If it wasnt for Habitat I dont know what we would have done We will enjoy
our new house and be very happy.
