Welcome to FZ FORZAs 2014-2015 collection.

We are happy to welcome you to yet another exciting badminton collection.
This new FZ FORZA range can be described in two words and that is Perfect
Match. This year we have taken our product development even further, not
only within the rackets but also the clothing and accessory assortments
For 2014-15 we are launching a new top racket and that is the FZ FORZA
Titanium 11.000. It is a superb racket that is available in four different models
with various flex points. This means that any player, no matter what their skill
level or playing ability, will now be able to enjoy the benefits of playing with a
premium racket and still have full control over their game.
Enhancing your game is also in what you wear on the badminton court. So
when it comes to our clothing and accessories we will this year present an
even stronger assortment. We have continued to build on our stronghold which
is high performance fabrics, lots of colours and functional details. Additionally
there has been many hours put into the development of incorporating design
ideas in everything from our clothing, bags and shoes hence creating an even
stronger concept. This concept matches perfectly both on the court and when

ON TOP OF BEING A LADIES DOUBLES PLAYER AND TALENT COACH, 20-YEAR-OLD

JOSEPHINE VAN ZAANE IS A TRAINING ADDICT WHO IN HER OWN WORDS HATES TO LOSE
Josephine van Zaane is 20 years old and
plays for Vrlse Badminton. After many
years as a singles player with doubles
as a second priority, Josephine has now
chosen to focus on ladies doubles. This
has produced visible results both in
Josephines own development and on
the court she has won a tournament in
Greve Grand Prix 2013 with her partner
Celine Juel.
Talent development
In addition to developing her own talent,
Josephine is also very interested in
developing the talent of others. She works
in a variety of coaching roles whose aim
is to develop young talent and the range
of Danish badminton. Here she coaches
for the Badminton Academy project and
works with several groups of talented
girls in special coaching sessions. In the
summer of 2013, she was the organiser of
a badminton camp for U9 to U17 players
with FTZ and FZ FORZA as sponsors.
I love sharing my experiences and
helping young talent. I have been in their

situation myself, and this makes it easier

for me to coach them. It gives me a
kick to see and feel that I am making a
difference. I also get something out of it
as a badminton player as I notice other
details of the game, explains Josephine.
Coaching energises you
To feel both physically and mentally
energised on court, Josephine focuses
a great deal on running and stability
exercises in addition to her badminton
training. Both because physical energy
gives you confidence on court, but also
because she is a training addict, as she
calls it.
On Wednesdays, I dont play badminton
and become extremely restless if I dont
do any running. I always look forward to
training even if I am slightly injured, says
Josephine.
Sponsors create cohesion
Josephine emphasises the fact that
it is very much the support of her
sponsors that enables her to combine
her badminton career and private life so

successfully.
FZ Forza have been my equipments
sponsors since I was 11. It is a very
personal partnership in which I am
also given support in the form of
encouragement both when I have
won or if I have been injured. FTZ is my
advertising sponsor and without them
I would not be able to afford to play
tournaments in Denmark and abroad.
JKE Design, my latest sponsor, help me
to run my everyday life smoothly. I started
studying and needed a car to be able to
get to training, she emphasises.
The big picture is very important to
Josephine. That is why she places great
emphasis on having something other
than badminton in her life. This makes her
function better as a person and generates
results on court.

After eight years in the Spanish capital

Madrid, Ernesto Velazquez Ruiz-Mateos
needed a change of scenery to focus
100 percent on developing his badminton
talent. Through his Danish contacts, he
chose Triton in Aalborg, a club Ernesto
joined in the summer of 2013.
I felt stuck in Madrid and really needed
a change. First I looked at France, but I
had a Danish coach in Madrid, so we got
some offers from Denmark, and the one in
Aalborg looked really interesting, explains
Ernesto.
With his move to Triton, Ernesto feels that
his badminton has improved. He says
that in the past three years he has not
enjoyed playing badminton as much as he
does now. This is why he is determined
to achieve his goal of qualifying for the
Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.
My motivation is quite high right now.
Im learning a lot from the coaches and
the other players. Im number one on

the Triton first team, but all the players
are challenging me and are able to beat
me, so I have a lot of motivation to try
and beat them at every training session.
Right here and now I feel that I can beat
all my nemeses, says Ernesto about his
preparation for his coming international
tournaments.
Busy with education and training
Ernesto attends Danish lessons four times
a week while pursuing an online Masters
degree in Spain. He also coaches a small
group of players twice a week while he
himself trains seven times a week.
Ernesto, who is the Spanish no. 2, has
been sponsored by FZ FORZA since
2008.
My contract with Forza runs out in
December, but I really like the brand, so
I hope I can negotiate a new deal with
them, explains Ernesto.
Denmark is a badminton country

Although Ernesto is not looking forward
to the Danish winter, he has been
very pleasantly surprised about how
much more popular badminton is here
compared to Spain. He laughs and asks
whether perhaps it is our poor weather
that has made badminton popular
because we have to stay indoors for large
parts of the year.
He praises the quality of Danish
badminton facilities highly and is generally
very surprised at how big the sport is in
Denmark compared to Spain.
In Spain you get a taxi and the driver
doesnt know anything about badminton.
People in Denmark know about the sport
and are very supportive. Im freaking out
about badminton matches on Danish
television. Back home Ive never watched
badminton on television except
for the Olympics, explains Ernesto
enthusiastically.

Hectagon ramme
FZ FORZA has developed a hectagon frame
which is more narrow and stronger than
usual. It gives reduced air resistance and less
torsion. That means faster reactions, better
control and more power than normal.
Wide Body frame
Extra wide frame structure which makes
the frame more rigid and more stable which
translates into more shuttlecock control and
increased impact force.
N-Body frame
Regular frame width which has a perfect
combination of rigidness and flexibility. A
frame type which will suit all players as it
has optimum balance between control, fast
reactions and impact force.

widely used shaft for non-professional

In general a flexible shaft helps players who
do not have good rotation in their lower arm.
Here the shaft gives a good flick and thus
helps increase the impact force. The shaft
settles slower than the stif shaft, but if the
game is not played at a fast pace it does not
have any significance. Players who have lost
impact force can also benefit from a flexible
shaft.
Stif/very stiff
The player must have good rotation in the
lower arm in order to use the rigid shaft.
Then the stif shaft will give optimum control
and it will settle down very quickly after
the hit, meaning the racket is ready very
quickly even if it is a fast-paced game. With
the proper technique a stiff shaft will also
generate a lot of power.
I-POWER
I-power is a brand new technology where the
shaft has various diameters internally. The
shaft is thickest at the bottom and thinner
by the frame. That way the balance point is
moved considerably further up on the shaft.
The result is a racket which flexes more and
faster. It gives an extra flick and thus extra
power.

DO YOU KNOW YOUR RACKET?

A racket can be divided into 3 separate parts which each contribute to the rackets qualities.
The shaft
The shaft determines the rackets qualities,
and so the choice of shaft is very important
in relation to getting complete benefit from
your racket.
Players with good technique have good
rotation in their lower arms which gives good
impact force. If you rotate in your lower arm it
is very easy for you to hit a shuttlecock to the
baseline and you do not need further help
from the racket.
Players with a good technique play best with
a rigid racket, and players with less rotation
play best with a flexible shaft.
The flexible shaft gives a good flick which
adds speed to the shuttlecock. But it takes a
bit longer for the shaft to settle which is okay
if it is a slow-paced game.
A rigid shaft is stable and gives better control
of your hit. This is especially helpful in fastpaced games.

The frame
The structure of the frame or racket head is
important in relation to the force that has to
be transferred to the shuttlecock from the
rotation in the arm and the flexibility in the
racket shaft.
The less torsion in the frame the more force
will be transferred and the more control you
have of your hit.
The weight of the frame is also important for
how the racket feels when hitting.
A head-light racket has the weight distributed
in the shaft and grip. It requires that your
technique is good and that you have rotation
and impact force. You will feel that your
racket is very easy to move.
A head-heavy racket primarily has its weight
in the frame. It is best suited for a person
who winds due to fit health/endurance more
than due to technique. You may feel that your
racket is a bit slow to move, but it gives you

extra power when hitting.
A racket with an even balance has the weight
distributed evenly between head and shaft.
You will feel more power when hitting, but the
racket is a bit slower to move.
The grip
The size of the grip is not insignificant
either. Without a good grip it is impossible
to hold on properly and you cannot use the
advantages which the shaft and frame give
to your game.
If the grip is too thin it is impossible to hold
on properly and you may experience that
the racket is moving around in your hand.
A thicker grip would solve that problem.
However, if the grip is too thick you cannot
rotate the racket in your hand or use your
technique in the best way possible. A thinner
grip would solve that problem.
