My Reflection
1st we have our registration at 5:30 am at the lobby of the University of
the Cordilleras of CHTM Building. When we got ready for the Baguio tour, we
had breakfast at our very own Tribu Caf in the CHTM Building. We depart
from the UC at 8:00 am, I was assign as a head leader of bus 1, and we have
14 tourist students and 26 tour guides in the bus, a total of 40 passenger of
bus 1. We passed by in the City Hall and Camp Allen, there is an assigned
tour guide to talk about the historical background and importance of a
destination in Baguio City and they are ready to answer the question that are
in mind of the tourist students. After our 1 st destination, we went to bell
church to look around and have pictorial for the tourist student to enjoy
different culture.
While we are on our way to Tam-awan Village, we passed by La Trinidad
Valley in route touring Benguet State University and Strawberry Farm, we had
a wonderful sightseeing experience because some of our tourist students are
not from Baguio City and this their 1 st time to look around Baguio City and La
Trinidad Benguet. When we arrive at Tam-awan Village, a professional tour
guide show us view deck 1 and 2, where you can see wonderful views from
the mountains but unfortunately the weather was foggy that time and we
werent able to see much view.
After the sightseeing at Tam-awan Village, we went back to the bus
and check whether we are complete and if everybody ready to our next stop
which is Easter weaving to witness the process how it is made. The tourist
and tour guide learn more about culture of the Filipinos and know how our
authentic clothes are made. They show us the different products they
produced and sell to the public. They show us the procedure how it is made
its an additionally knowledge for us.
After the mind filling knowledge, we went our next destination which is
Kennon Road View Deck, we passed through via Baguio General Hospital and
tell the historical background of it. We went down to take picture of the view
and we took more historical feature of the place.
We went to Camp John Hay for the tree top adventure for our tourist
students but they werent able to ride because of the weather but we covered
it up with a team building experience. We finish the activity and went to Le
montel for their dinner and for their socializing night, sharing experience and
getting to know each other.
All in all, I learn that being a tour guide is not an easy and it should be
very prepared and knowledgeable about historical background of destinations
and also their importance while having a pleasing personality in handling
tourist, they may have different personalities, cultures, languages, race, and
even religion that all of these you have to blend them together to have a
great and memorable trip even though it will be awhile. There are a lot of
challenges and barriers to be a tour guide but being one and doing all the
responsibilities at its best is an honor to oneself.
