Source 1 provided a balanced account of the Gulf of Tonkin incident and the reaction in Washington. It used simple yet accurate language and was easy to navigate with chapter titles, subchapters, and an index. Source 2 focused more on the political response in Washington rather than details of the event. It used complex political jargon and assumed knowledge of figures at the time, with less clear organization compared to Source 1.

Source 1 : This was an extremely valuble source. It was very
balanced between accounting the event itself and the reaction in Washinton. The language was very friendly for students and simple yet accurate. It was also a very user-friendly source, as it included chapter titles and subchapter titles, which allowed me to skim read through the less relevant material and easily locate the essential group of pages. The index also provided the means to accuratley pinpoint the vital pages. Source 2 : This was a very political based account of the Tonkin incidents. It delves little into the actual event but rather focuses on the response of Johnson and his counsellors, especially Secretary of State at the time MacNamara and General Rusk. This source was my chief source in obtaining the reaction of Washinton to the incidents, however, it lacked much detail concerning the attacks themsevles. The language in the source as it contained political jargon and it expected a high level of knowledge of the political figures of the time before reading the book. It was alsoless friendl to the user as it had a short index and chapters werent as clearly dividing.
