Associated Learning Standard(s): The resource may be generally applicable, if so, simply state that.
List any ISTE-S standards that seem to naturally align with the selected resource.
ISTE-S Standards Met:
1. Empowered Learner
Students leverage technology to take an active role in choosing, achieving and demonstrating
competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences. Students:
c. Use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate
their learning in a variety of ways
4. Innovative Designer
Students use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify and solver problems by
creating new, useful, or imaginative solutions. Students:
a. Know and use a deliberate design process for generating ideas, testing theories, creating
innovative artifacts or solving authentic problems.
b. Select and use digital tools to plan and manage a design process that considers design
constraints and calculated risks.
c. Develop, test, refine prototypes as past of a cyclical design process.
d. Exhibit a tolerance for ambiguity, perseverance and the capacity to work with open- ended
problems.
6. Creative communicator
Students communicate clearly and express themselves creativiley for a variety of purposes using the
platforms, tools, styles, formats and digital media appropriate to their goals. Students:
b. Communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively by creating o using a variety of digital
objects such as visualizations, models or simulations.

7. Global Collector
Students use digital tools to broaden their perspectives and enrich their learning by collaborating with
others and working effectively in teams locally and globally. Students:
a. Use digital tools to connect with learners from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, engaging
with them in ways that broaden mutual understanding and learning.
b. Explore local and global issues and use collaborative technologies to work with others to
investigate solutions.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

GoAnimate is a way to create a script of what point you want to get across in a professional or animated
way. It is a way for you to share exactly how youre feeling, because you can animate the characters to
whatever you want. The animated characters can be customized into hundreds of different shades of
color representing all the diversity. This application allows for difficult subjects to be portrayed in a softer
light and tone.

INTEGRATION IDEA - PRESENTATION

How might you use this resource in a lesson plan to promote students
presentation/speaking/communication skills?

Instead of students having to go in front of the class and speaking they could voice what they are feeling
or thinking on a given topic based off of the script they type into GoAnimate. They would be able to
share their GoAnimate with the class, and the class would be able to see what they are trying to say.
After the GoAnimate video is played the students will be able to communicate with each other about the
topic covered, and share their opinions and viewpoints on what was discussed. GoAnimate is a fun way
for students to think creatively and outside the box, rather than doing your typical boring PowerPoint
presentation. I feel like most students tune out of other students PowerPoint presentations, and these
animations may keep the attention at a longer rate. The presentations would be interesting that would
promote paying attention, which would result in class discussion and communication skills. I would want
the student who produced the GoAnimate to share a little background on the topic prior to the video that
way the students have a brief understanding of what is happening. An example of this would be that a
student would be given a side to chose on Patriots V.S. Loyalists, and they have to make an animation
from whoevers side they choose viewpoint. So if they were to choose Patriots then they would then
make a GoAnimate of what the life would be like as a Patriot. This would allow for the class to integrate
create writing and thinking skills while combining the American Revolution.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION

Based on the value-added rating scale above, how would you rate the technology integration
you described, using the selected resource?
Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

This integration idea is a strong 2 leaning to a 3. It very well lines with content standards, and provides
an opportunity for me as a teacher to see what the students can do independently outside of the
classroom. This is a perfect technological application for a student-centered learning environment where
students are active and engaged in learning content. Also, it would be very likely to increase student
engagement and contribute to the mastery of the concepts.
