FOUGERE LEADS REGINA MAYORAL RACE

August 27, (Montral, QC) A new Mainstreet/Postmedia poll nds Mayor Michael Fougere leading in the
upcoming Regina mayoral race with the support of 51% of voters. The Mainstreet/Postmedia Poll has a
margin of error of +/- 3.72%, 19 times out of 20. 694 Regina residents were surveyed by phone from August
22-23, 2016.
Mayor Michael Fougere is easily leading in the Regina mayoral race said David Valentin, executive
vice-president of Mainstreet Research. His only opponent, Tony Fiacco, brother to former mayor Pat
Fiacco, is only at 12% support. If the election were held tomorrow Fougere would win in a landslide.
So far Fiacco has not given Regina residents many reasons to support his candidacy but it is early days
yet. For now he is likely beneting in name recognition from his brothers prole. It looks like a steep uphill
climb right now and Fiacco is not making matters any better with a limited prole. Its been a month since
his mayoral announcement and there is no website, no platform, no announcements - his twitter account
has one tweet. One has to wonder how serious he is about his candidacy and if he will be able to raise any
money.
For now Fougere looks to have an insurmountable lead - this of course could change, but Fougere is in the
drivers seat and as an incumbent should face no real hurdles in fundraising and has built in name
recognition. He looks likely to remain Mayor of Regina barring a serious opponent entering and shaking up
the race, nished Valentin.

ONLY WE
CALLED
THE
LIBERAL
MAJORITY.

I recommend "Raiders of the Lost Campaign Arc," released Oct. 18, because its an interview
with a pollster that everyone who follows politics should hear. Quito Maggi, of Mainstreet Public
Research, was the only pollster I saw call the Liberal majority with such condence, a week
before we voted.
Maggi also has the distinction of being the guy who predicted the BC Liberals would win in 2013,
in deance of the majority of the polls.
His technique involves picking a true bellwether riding and polling it thoroughly. His explanation
for how he does it is well worth a listen and should be required research for anyone running a
political campaign. - Shannon Rupp, The Tyee, November 4th, 2015
