1. EXT.

DOWNTOWN CHICAGO STREET - NIGHT

A MAN walks through the cold night. Others walk by him, but
he is undeniably alone. He walks down the steps of...
2. INT. HARRISON STATION - NIGHT
... a nearby L staion. The man spots the postings of the
different colored lines leaving the station. Amongst the
normal colored lines (Red, Brown, Purple) there is something
quite unusual, a Rainbow Line. The man gives it another look
and then swipes his card and walks down to...
3. INT. BOTTOM LEVEL STATION - NIGHT
...The bottom level of the station. It is lifeless and the
silence is almost otherworldly. The man takes a seat and
waits.
A train can be heard. The man peaks over that platform to
check it out. He spots the display at the head of the train.
It reads "RAINBOW" outlined with the expected colors.
The train pulls up, as empty as the station, and opens its
doors. There is no conductor sticking his head out, or at
least no visible one.
The man patiently waits for the train to move along, but the
doors refuse to close. The mechanic buzz is all that can be
heard. He finally gives it a shot, and steps on.
3. INT. RAINBOW LINE - NIGHT
"NEXT STOP IS..." The message is curtailed. The man sits and
stares at the darkness the train flies through.
4. EXT. COUNTRY FIELD - DAY
A grass field bathed in sunlight stretches on for miles. One
lone oak tree sits in it. We pull in closer to the mighty
tree and catch a LITTLE GIRL sketching a butterfly on its
trunk.
5. INT. RAINBOW LINE - NIGHT
The train slows and then halts. The doors open, but there is
no stop or location name given. The man looks out at
unyielding darkness. He steps into it and walks blind.
6. EXT. COUNTRY FIELD - DAY
The girl finishes her butterfly. She looks back towards
someone or something off screen. She collects her crayons and
runs towards it. We stay with the tree and the butterfly.
After a few moments, the trunk opens. The man steps out of
the hollow tree. He looks around and behind the tree, but can
only see open field. Meanwhile, the wooden hatch closes and
mends back with the tree.

The man stares out ahead of him. He sees a family walking

hand in hand. The little girl holds her BROTHERS hand, who is
holding their MOTHERS hand. The little girl turns around and
the rest of the family follows.
The little girl smiles an irresistible smile and extends a
hand. The man stays put. The MOTHER waves him on to join them.
The man stares at them with watery eyes. He makes his way
over and takes the girls hand.
The family walks together and we pull out to see a modest
home at the top of the field.

THE END
