EXT. HOUSE- NIGHT

Early 2000s rom-com vibes. A young guy BRETT is dropping off
a girl ASHLEY after their date together. Clearly it has gone
well.
ASHLEY & BRETT
So, uh-ASHLEY
(giggling)
You first!
BRETT
No, you first!
ASHLEY
Okay... well, tonight was
absolutely amazing. And... and I
think Id like to do it again
sometime.
BRETT
Oh yeah? Well, I KNOW Id like to
do it again.
Brett grabs Ashley and kisses her passionately. The chorus
of Nine Days song "Absolutely (Story of a Girl)" starts
playing the second their lips meet.
BRETT
So, mind if I come inside?
ASHLEY
Excuse me?
BRETT
Well, tonight went really well and
I feel like Im in a position to
score, so-ASHLEY
Oh! Yeah, come right in!
The two go inside and when they resume kissing, the music
starts back up again.

INT. BEDROOM- NIGHT

BRETT and ASHLEY are now in Ashleys bedroom, still making
out. She takes off all the shirts he has layered over one
another one by one (like, t-shirt over long sleeved shirt
obvi). The music is still playing, but quietly. The two stop
kissing and the music stops.
ASHLEY
Do you hear that music?
BRETT
What music?
ASHLEY
Its gone now, but it was that new
Nine Days song. I heard it when we
made out outside.
BRETT
Maybe its because every time I
touch you, baby, I hear music.
He grabs her and starts kissing her passionately again, and
the music re-starts, this time loudly. THIS IIIIS THE STORY
OF A GIRL. WHO CRIED A RIVER AND DROWNED THE WHOLE WOOORLD.
EXT. BEDROOM- NIGHT
Just a shot of Ashleys bedroom door. We can hear the bed
squeaking and, muffled, the song starting and stopping
rhythmically, like "this-" "this-" "this-" "this-"... wonder
what they could be doing in there.
MONTAGE
Sequence. Each time Brett touches Ashley, the chorus of the
song starts, layering over and over itself (think like Mmm
Watcha Say in that SNL sketch)
A: Ashley and Brett walk in a park. When they go to hold
hands, the music starts.
B: Brett proposes to Ashley. As he slides the ring onto her
finger, the music plays.
C: Ashley and Brett, now wearing wedding rings, kiss happily
in a park and the music plays. An old woman behind them is
scared half to death by the sudden noise and drops her
groceries.

D: Brett grabs Ashleys ass somewhere in public. The music

starts and everyone around them looks confused.
E: Brett puts a dish in the sink while Ashley is washing
dishes. He accidentally bumps her and the music starts.
Shes starting to look fed up with this shit.
F: Brett is at a funeral with Ashley. When he puts his hand
on her knee to console her, the music starts. She looks even
MORE fed up.
F: Ashley comes home from work exasperated and falls into
bed. As she lies there, you see slight hand motion coming
from under Bretts side of the covers. The music plays, very
muffled (as if by blankets). Ashley notices whats going on
and yells, "ENOUGH!"
INT. DOCTORS OFFICE- DAY
ASHLEY has brought BRETT to see DR. COX. She looks very
concerned and is in the middle of explaining to Dr. Cox.
ASHLEY
...and every time he touches me,
that new Nine Days song starts
playing!
DR. COX
Oh, "Story of a Girl?" I love that
song!
ASHLEY
Me too, but not this much! This is
just... its too weird for me, and
he cant even hear it. He doesnt
notice. Watch.
Ashley demonstrates that poking him with her finger will
start and stop the song as it resumes playing each time she
pokes him.
DR. COX
Dear God... Im sorry, Brett, but
youre sicker than I thought.
BRETT
(putting his hand up for a
high five)
Sick!

DR. COX
No, no, youre extremely ill. In
fact, Im afraid it may be
terminal.
ASHLEY
(heartbroken)
No...
BRETT
I dont know what to say Doc... how
long have I got left to live?
DR. COX
.........Nine Days
Music starts back up. THIS IS THE STORY OF A GIIIRL. Freeze
on Dr. Cox winking and pointing at the camera.
