    October 3, 2016 Dear members ofthe Villa Maria Elementary community, In the evening on Sunday, October2, the Villa Mara Elementary (VME) Board of Trustees was informed bythe Sisters of St Joseph (SS) tat VME would be closing at the end of the school year. The Board of Testes, which has «legal and fiduciary duty to participate inthe govemance of VME as 8 non-profit corporation, played no role inthe decision-making process that resulted inthe school closing. We were deliberately kept in the dark about the future ofthe school until Sunday night, We were completely blindsided and, ifwe had known that the SSJ was considering closing the school, we ‘would have advocated against I and provided a number of realistic altemative options to Keep the Schoo! ope, Toad to our dismay, we are unable to play any future role in managing the fllou fom the SSI's
