Quick Start Guide to

12 Quick Praywalking Tips

Learn to Observe

1. Be prepared spiritually through your own


time of personal prayer and bible study.

What insights do the places I come across mean


in this culture?

2. Wear comfortable shoes that are already


broken in and culturally appropriate and
comfortable clothing.

Hospitals - Is there are problem specific to this


area that needs to be prayed for?

3. It is best to go out in teams of 2 or 3 and be


sure and prayer together before you begin
your walk.

Schools - What is the situation. Are there drug


problems, or unwanted pregnancies? Is there are
shortage of books, teachers, classrooms, etc.

4. You can pray together out loud as you walk,


but consider silent prayer individually from
time to time.
5. If praying together, reinforce one anothers
prayers before changing the prayer topic.
6. Use Scripture in your prayers. Example verses
are: Psa 46:10; 108:5; Josh 3:5; etc.
7. If the moment calls for it, stop and pray more
intensely. There are no set rules as to how.
You will develop your own style.

Government Buildings - Is there freedom to worship? Is there corruption in the government?


How do they treat Christians?
Businesses - What is the unemployment situation? Is there enough work?
Churches - What is the spiritual condition of the
area? Are there cult sites as you walk? Does
there seem to be opposition?

8. If youre tired, sit somewhere, rest a little and


pray for a while.

9. Smile and be pleasant with those you meet.


God could very well be working in their lives.

10. Carry index cards and a pen to write down


names of people you meet, places that call
your attention, and observations & insights
the Lord gives you.
11. Share thoughts with one another and pray
together at the conclusion of your walk.
12. Keep a prayer journal and record what you
learn. Answer questions such as:

What lessons did I learn?


What special needs does this area have?
Did I experience any opposition?
Was God glorified through me?
Did I meet or see anyone that I should
continue to lift up in prayer?
