For this mission, you and your partner(s) are investigative journalists.

Your mission is to research a conflict that is taking place on Planet


Earth.
There are 6 levels to your mission. You will receive points for
completing each level successfully. Try to achieve a high score.

The maximum number of points for each level is detailed below:

Level 1
Design an investigator badge 300 points
The badge design should relate to the conflict that you are
studying
Printable badges
Level 2
100 points for each question answered correctly
Bonus points for extra information or answers that are more
detailed
Level 3
1,000 points for accurately completing each chart section (there
are 3 sections)
Level 4
1,000 points for completing your map
Level 5
12,000 points for completing your written paragraphs
Level 6
12,000 points for your presentation

You can gain bonus points as follows:


500 points when you and your partner(s) complete a level
500 points being consistently on time and prepared for class

You can also lose points as follows:


Up to 500 points not staying focused in class
Up to 500 points being disruptive in class
Up to 500 points forgetting to bring the necessary items to class
Up to 500 points being late for class
Up to 1,000 points not listening to the teacher when he/she is
talking

Level 1 choose a news article to research and produce an investigator
badge
Level 2 read the news article and answer the questions
Level 3 research the geography of the location that this news article
refers to, and complete the information charts for this country
Level 4 complete a map of the country that you are researching
Level 5 research and investigate the background to this news article
and complete the written requirements for this level Different

Level 6 present your findings to the class, to tell them what you have
discovered

In your notebook write the headline as the title of your work.


After reading the article, answer the questions below in complete
sentences. The number of sentences in brackets shows the minimum
number of sentences required for each question.

Level 6
For the final level, your group will present an illustrated overview of the
conflict, as well as the 2 different opinions.
Person 1 will give an overview of the conflict, including a slideshow
with pictures related to the conflict (4-5 slides)
Person 2 will present the opinion of Group 1
Person 3 will present the opinion of Group 2
There will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions after the
presentations, so each person much be prepared to answer questions
related to the conflict, and defend the opinion that he/she presents.

Requirements:
1. Decide with your partner(s) who will be responsible for the different
parts of the presentation.
2. Each person must talk for approximately 2 minutes.
3. Prepare and practise your presentation. Index cards can be used
as an aid.
