Students will be provided with a general introduction to Internal Medicine
therapeutics that includes the treatment principles based on various systems
of differentiation of syndromes and accordingly the herbal or point prescription
and application. Students are required to integrate previous knowledge and
skills in TCM and apply them to a clinical issue and work out a specific
treatment plan. In the workshop or lab session, the students draw upon all
previous studies to undertake (under strict supervision) the diagnosis,
treatment, and treatment management of fellow students; focusing on the
relationship of and role of student/practitioner and intern. It is further
supported by concurrent clinical studies in clinical practicum courses.

This is a 45 hour course that introduces the diagnosis and treatment

At the completion of this course, students will be able to:

Diagnose and differentiate common Internal Medicine disorders.

Be able to utilize acupuncture, and Chinese herbal medicine formulas


in treatment of common Internal Medicine disorders.

This course will be presented by the use of lecture, laboratory and group
discussion with the emphasis on clinical environment learning.
In support of student learning, the faculty highly recommends that it is in the
students best interest to attend all classes. Participation in all course activities
is expected. Attendance will be monitored. Evaluations will be based upon all
learning objectives.
Successfully completion of this course requires that the students achieve a
60% or higher grade. Final Exam: 90%, Attendance: 10 %
