Highlights
In Reading we continue to practice
sounding out consonant-vowel-consonant
words. This week we will be introducing
short o. We will practice words like hot,
mom and top.

Weekly Focus

In Social Studies we are learning about


various biomes like deserts and
rainforests.

In Math we are practicing counting to


100 by 1s and to 30 by 2s. We are also

Reminders to Parents

In Health we are learning about how to


be safe in various situations such as with
fire, with strangers, and in traffic.

I will be absent on Monday, October 3, and


Wednesday, October 5. Please encourage
your child to be on his/her best behavior for
our substitute.

First Grade Fun Fact:


Bees lose their stinger when they sting us.
They cannot live without their stinger so
they die soon after. Wasps, on the other
hand, can pull their stingers out after they
have injected their poison into us. Thus,
they survive after stinging us.
